Taking care of staff
Annual health and well-being check-ups took place recently at Kemtile's head office in Warrington in keeping with the firm's commitment to employee welfare.
Working with Med Protect, Kemtile put all office and on-site employees through a health screening exercise to ensure the tasks they are asked to perform do not affect their health.
Brian Williams, SHE Manager, responsible for health, safety and environment at the firm, says the Annual Operative Health Surveillance Day ensures the company maintains compliance with legislation covering operative health issues such as noise, dust and chemical substances.
"We need to demonstrate to the client and our employees that we are taking all proper measures with suitable controls to protect people's health and well-being."
The health surveillance technicians measure lung function, hearing, dermatitis and HAVs (hand and arm vibration, or white finger) and give employees an early warning if anything is not right.
Kemtile Director Stephen Westley said it was part of being a close-knit, independent business. "While we now employ around 50 people across our Warrington and Ireland offices, we have kept a family-led culture and look after each other.
"Most of our workforce are directly employed by the firm and all are highly skilled in what they do. The annual checks reinforce the value we place on their work and them as people."
