Robust flooring solution for top snack brand
A reliable flooring solution capable of withstanding intense heat and oil spillages has been delivered by our team of experts at Kemtile for a top UK snack brand.
As a fast-growing business the crisp manufacturers needed a versatile and durable floor that could tackle common trip and spillage risks and have excellent heat resistance.
The company had encountered numerous issues with its existing resin flooring which proved to be a trip hazard and had poor resistance to the frequent spillages of hot oil that occurred.
Kemtile was asked to devise a specific flooring solution using hygienic porcelain tiles for under two of the company's fryers, which included its existing batch fryers and a new continuous fryer.
In order to make the best recommendations for the site, Kemtile investigated the area's specific challenges and did core tests to get a better idea of the floor's current build up. Once this was done, the solution included excavating down to the structural slab/concrete and replacing it with a high strength polyurethane mortar Stonset TG6.
When the polyurethane mortar had cured it was overlaid with a thick hygienic porcelain paver and fully vitrified non slip tiles, all bedded and grouted using our innovative resin system. Both installations took less than two weeks to complete, working around timed shutdowns and the company's production deadlines.
Kemtile also fitted 100m of drainage channels on the site, again within a very short timescale.
National Sales Manager David Priest said: "We have enjoyed a long-term relationship with this customer and we continue to be asked back in to provide fit-for-purpose solutions for them. These specific installations have been particularly rewarding given the very short time scales we were working towards. It's been challenging but we have again delivered, the porcelain pavers provide excellent heat resistance, a really robust product which will also stand the test of time.
"We are always installing to tight deadlines and work closely with our customers to minimise downtime in busy food production environments and bring the jobs in on time and on budget."
Kemtile is also proud to offer HACCP-certified flooring, with its products suitable and safe for use in food and beverage facilities that operate in accordance with a HACCP-based food safety programme.
