AAK, one of the world's largest producers of high value added vegetable oils and fats, required an up to date, hygienic floor surface for an oil packing department at its site in the North of England.
Ceramic Tiles, Stainless steel kerbing
To continue the standard of floors used in a previous area, AAK requested a tiled floor finish suitable for food production. The new 700 square meter floor had to include new stainless steel drainage channels and stainless steel kerbing. The requirements also called for the construction to be carried out without disrupting production.
Preparaing for installing the flooring
Kemtile satisfied the client's technical requirements, advising on tile selection with respect to hygiene and the correct surface in terms of slip resistance, in addition to the design and layout of the new drainage system. Pre-contract survey work was carried out, including core samples of the existing floor to assess its condition and the thicknesses of the existing finishes. Kemtile specified Kagetec BS ceramic hexagonal tiling, and worked closely with AAK to ensure production was unaffected during installation, while hygiene, health and safety issues were adhered to at all times.
Working in partnership with AAK
AAK Project Engineer, Tony Kay, said: "At the time Kemtile was new to our company, but the firm's pre-contract expertise, the attention to detail, obvious commitment to developing good customer relationships, together with price and delivery gave us the confidence to select Kemtile. Kemtile is a very efficient company providing a first class job, from the initial enquiry to construction and after sales service. I would have no hesitation in using Kemtile again."
