In 1983, Philip and John Tomlinson started canvassing local residents around Wrexham and quickly realised that there was a demand for farm-fresh bottled milk and started up a doorstep delivery. Their reputation grew for quality and service and so did demand, as a result they built a dedicated dairy next to the farm. They now supply over 300 outlets across Wales, the Midlands and the North West of England, producing over 25 million litres of fresh milk a year. In 2012 the company moved to a brand new dairy and Kemtile were asked to provide a suitable flooring solution.
To install a suitable floor finish to cope with the demands of dairy process, which would be hygienic and easy to clean. Fats used in dairy increase the risk of slips, so any floor needed to have a slip-resistant surface that meets the requirements and recommendations of the HSE.
What we did
Throughout the new dairy we laid BASF Mastertop heavy duty polyurethane flooring in yellow, installed all the skirtings and put in Wiedemann drainage systems. In recent months we have also installed further UCRETE polyurethane flooring into a newly-opened yogurt production room.
Philip Tomlinson, Managing Director of Tomlinson Dairies, said: "Tomlinson Dairies employed the services of Kemtile because they were NW-based and we believe in trying to give something back and employing local trades whenever we can. They were very competitive, plus we had visited a number of companies that had used Kemtile in the past and they all gave a glowing reference. We are very happy with the work carried out. They were prompt, efficient and completed the work on time and within budget."
